What to Expect
Here are some answers to common questions about what you can expect when attending a Sunday Service with us.
Our service starts at 10:00 a.m. but arriving 10–15 minutes early gives you time to grab coffee, find a seat, and settle in. We have a large lobby where people often spend time talking with others before finding a seat.
Some churches, with good intentions, ask visitors to stand up and introduce themselves in front of everyone. While we applaud their desire to know you better, we do things a bit differently at Lake Spokane.
We believe that you will be more comfortable meeting a few people who are seated around you and who are genuinely interested in getting to know you better rather than introducing yourself to large numbers of people but not really meeting anyone.
Near the beginning of most of our services, we provide a few moments for people to meet and chat with one another. In that way, genuine friendships can begin in brief conversations.
We get this question sometimes, and the short answer is—no, not from our guests.
The people who call Lake Spokane Community Church their home church choose to give voluntarily to support our ministries and mission. That’s part of how we function as a community. But if you’re visiting, please know: we don’t expect or ask you to give. You’re our guest, and we’re just glad you’re here.
Yes, we do pass an offering basket during the service, but most of our regular givers use automated methods like direct checks from their bank. So when the basket goes by, no one is watching or keeping score—really.
If, down the road, you decide to make this your church home, you might choose to support what we’re doing financially. And if you do, we’ll be thankful. But for now, we simply want you to feel welcomed, not pressured.
Absolutely not! The rule of thumb at Lake Spokane is casual attire. When you join us for one of our services, you may see people dressed in work attire or shorts.
Please feel free to join us, and be sure to wear clothes which make you feel comfortable.
We offer a fun, exciting program for children, and we’re confident that your kids would have a great time if they were to participate.
At the same time, we certainly understand why you would want to check us out before allowing your kids to go to a separate part of the facility to participate in our children’s program.
You should know that your children are definitely welcome in our meetings for as long as makes you comfortable.
Yes! We have coffee and usually a tray of cookies or other light refreshments available before or after the service.
We also have a potluck after the service each month on the 1st Sunday of the month. We’d love it if you would stick around and share a meal with us, no requirement to bring a dish.
Yes! We believe life is better in community. Ask about our current groups or browse our website to learn more.
Yes, we are wheelchair accessible and happy to accommodate any special needs—just let us know how we can help.
Not at all! Whether you’re exploring faith or have been walking with Jesus for years, you’re welcome here. We welcome anyone—regardless of background, beliefs, or lifestyle—to join us in learning about Jesus. Our desire is to extend love and hospitality while staying true to what we believe the Bible teaches. You are welcome here, and we hope you will find a place of honesty, humility, and hope.
At its core, the message of Jesus is about good news. He did not come to earth to condemn us. Instead, he came to give us life.
And so, while we feel it is important to recognize that we all have fallen short of God’s ideals, it is even more important to emphasize the joyful and complete life which Jesus offers us.
Our desire is that you would come away from our church gatherings contemplating that reality: that while we have fallen short of the ideal in our lives, Jesus offers us satisfaction, fulfillment and joy in a way and in a measure we have never known before.
